Product Description
This is a Brand New higher output version of the Electric Columns that DC Electronics Provide, its great with installation were size may be a factor. Like all of the electric column’s this motor/gearbox/unit is designed to go in line with the existing steering column between the steering wheel and the manual steering Rack or Box, being smaller it can be used in tighter installations, where the size of the unit is a factor.
The EPAS500 KIT-2 Motor Gear Box Unit MGU has maximum torque output of 80M (59lb Ft)
The EPAS500 KIT-2 Electric Column Unit functions in the same as the Micro Steer Kit and the Motorsport Assembly Column’s, but this unit offers a speed sensitive system.
The EPAS500 KIT-2 comprises the following components –
• Motor/Gearbox (EPAS500M)
• Electronic Control Unit (EPAS500E)
• Wiring Harness (EPAS500H)
• Tuning Box (Part No EPAS500T)
• Tuning Box Harness (Part No EPAS500TBH)
• Wheel Speed Sensor (Part No EPAS200W)
• Output Coupling (EPAS500UJ)
• Input Coupling (EPAS200UJ)
MODE OF OPERATION for the EPAS500 KIT-2.
Wheel Speed Mode – In this mode a digital wheel speed input signal can be used to increase the level of assistance at parking speeds whilst firming up the steering at higher speed. This is done via a digital wheel speed sensor.
There is also a range of optional extras to assist with the mechanical installation of your system like universal joints or Straight joiners etc please see notes below.
EPAS500 Series MGU (EPAS500M) – Mechanical Installation
The 500 Series MGU is designed to be inserted into the steering column. The 500 Series MGU is not suitable a replacement for some vehicles that have column gear change mechanisms.
The column has threaded mounting holes on either side of the unit. These mounting points, on the top / and bottom of the unit, these should be used to securely mount the front and rear of the unit to the chassis.
Please Note – All mounting brackets must be designed to take full torsional forces generated by the system and the driver combined.

Maximum Current Draw – 40 Amps.
Average Current Draw (Around Town Driving) – Less than 4 Amps.
System Weight –6.95Kg. (15.32Lbs.)
Maximum Torque Output – 80NM (59lb Ft)
