Product Description
This series of Vehicle has (EPAS) Electric Power Assisted Steering, this system has a Manual Steering Rack on the chassis that steers the road wheels with an Electric Power Steering Column inside the cabin that gives the Power Steering Assist.
Due to the extra loads applied to the manual steering rack, over time the rack can develop a knocking or rattling noise originating from the excess clearance on LHS rack shaft guide bush. This bush wears over time and the extra clearance in the bush allows the shaft to move and make a knocking noise. This can also allow the shaft to move side-ways causing uneven tire wear and an unstable feel when driving.
Until now the only way to replace this Bushing was to purchase a complete new steering rack assembly through the Toyota Dealer networks, unfortunately the dealers have limited stocks and the racks can be costly.
